Gladstone, North Kansas City
Twenty minutes, one car, and a haircut nobody cried through
A children's salon on North Oak. Kids cuts are $25, and every one of them ends with a sticker, a sucker and a toy.
What actually happens between walking in and walking out
Most children have been told to sit still in a chair that was built for an adult, under a cape that reaches their knees, while somebody they have never met comes at them with clippers. It goes badly often enough that parents put the haircut off for months.
This room was built the other way around. The chairs are cars. There is a screen at every station running whatever your kid wants to watch, and an Xbox in the salon chairs for the older ones and for the parents who want a turn. Nobody is rushed out. If it takes three visits to get a whole haircut, it takes three visits.

Sensory appointments
Haircuts can be genuinely hard for a child with sensory differences. The clippers buzz, the cape is tight, the mirror is loud, and there is a stranger standing behind them holding something sharp.
Miss Kenna sets aside specific hours for these appointments and works them solo, so the second chair is quiet and the room is not full. Sensory Saturdays and Sensory Sundays were added in August 2025 for families who cannot make a weekday.
How to book one
- Open the booking page and choose Sensory Boy Haircut or Sensory Girl Haircut. Do not book a standard cut and add a note.
- Pick a time inside the sensory hours, which are marked in blue on the booking calendar. Appointments booked outside those hours have to be moved.
- If you want the first haircut package for a sensory appointment, still book the sensory cut and say so in the notes.
- Call (816) 298-3404 if none of the marked times work. Kenna would rather find you a slot than have you give up on it.
